Passover Just Got Trendy

Passover Just Got Trendy

bondage to freedom shoes

This week, us Jewish folk celebrate Passover. Although commercially popularized by Matzah, there’s more to it than some hol(e)y crackers. (GET IT?) We are celebrating our exodus from Egypt, and our freedom from slavery. We do all kinds of fun things during the seder to remember the slavery while celebrating our freedom.

What’s it got to do with Edgify Me, fashion and the price of tea in China you ask? Well, it’s actually inspired me to do a story on this season's hottest shoe trends.  There’s that fantabulous dichotomy between high heeled gladiator bondage shoes and humanity’s favorite freedom shoe, the sneaker.

I could easily take this one step further and speculate that the bondage heels represent women’s enslavement to the masculine notion of female sexual objectification. On the other hand, sneakers represent women’s freedom of expression and value for effortless comfort.

Just to recap, I created a possibly nonexistent connection beween Passover, shoe trends and feminism. Neat.

Which shoes are you ready to embrace? Neither? Both? Tell me everything.
