You know how people just love to sound like philosophisers and say "Dont judge a book by it's cover"? Well today I am taking it upon myself to fashionify that idiom (I used to giggle from that word - thought my teacher was saying "idiot") and turn it into "Don't judge a collection by it's thumbnail photos on Style.com."
You see, when there are so many shows to catch up on in such a short period of time, I (and I'm sure many other fashion obsessifiers like me) cheat a little sometimes. I'll click on the collection and scroll threw it in less than 6 seconds in thumbnail format and think that I've gotten the gist of it.
But you know what else people who love to sound like philosophisers say? They say cheaters never prosper. Okay, okay, I'll get to the point. For a select few collections, Style.com offers detail shots. It is upon laying my pupils on those detail shots that the magic happens. I start to see a collection for what it really is. My heart melts (wicked witch of the west style), and then morphs into butterflies (caterpillar style), who then sing the Eye of The Tiger in soft melodic voices (Glee style), while dancing an Irish jig (Coco Rocha style), inside MAH BELLEH. You get the idea....you can't judge a collection until you've
walked a mile in it's shoes seen the clothes under a microscope.
Here are some of my favorite shows from NY Fashion Week up close and personal.
3.1 PHILLIP LIM:
I believe the images speak for themselves, while leaving you speechless yaknowwhaddahmean?
Last thing. If anyone can hook me up with those beyond-fashion-adjectives Phillip Lim sunglasses, they will win a private performance by yours truly dressed as a butterfly, serenading them with Eye of The Tiger while dancing an Irish jig. It's like, almost better than winning the lottery.
So who's it gonna be?!?!
